In the wake of the very successful original Star Wars trilogy radio dramas, several more hit the shelves, some good, and some unarguably bad. Unfortunately, Tales of the Jedi does not fit into the good category.
The dialogue is already being drawn from a melodramatic source which combined with over-enthusiastic voice actors makes the whole production a nauseating melodrama.
The cool thing about the production is the few references and foreshadowing that it does of other comics that do not appear in the original graphic novel, but this doesn’t really do much to remedy the situation. The way the scenes are edited are also slightly better than the original comic. This and a few other slight improvements keep this audio drama from being a complete failure, however, there isn’t enough to make it too good.
