Dark Lords of the Sith is a step forward in the progression of the Tales of the Jedi series and does a much better job than the former Knights of the Old Republic graphic novel.
The introduction of the character of Exar Kun was a good move since he provides a strong sense of power and antagonistic potential, following both his and Ulic Kel-Droma’s decline into the dark side is much more entertaining than the story has been up to this point. It makes the story have a darker edge to it.
To go along with the general direction of the plot, the artwork is also a lot simpler and darker, which is a huge improvement on the scattered confusing artwork that came before
Unfortunately a lot of these improvements are skin deep only. The plot is till a bit simple and predictable and the dialogue is still not all that gripping. Things have improved but still have a long way to go.
Chronology Note: this comic introduces Exar Kun who is a major influence on the rest of the saga, including the Jedi Academy trilogy which takes place thousands of years later.
